  • 9x13-inch baking dish

Ingredients

Meat and Dairy

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Frozen Ingredients

  • 1 bag (about 32 ounces) frozen tater tots

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, milk, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the beef mixture.
  • Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the tater tots are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, substitute cream of chicken soup for the cream of mushroom soup. You can add ½ cup of frozen mixed vegetables, like peas and carrots, to the beef mixture before baking. To make this a Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole, add ½ cup of finely chopped onion to the beef while browning and use 1 cup of American cheese instead of cheddar.
