This easy fried mushrooms recipe offers two options for breading thickness, perfect for appetizers or side dishes.

Ingredients
  

Mushrooms

  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms cleaned

Breading

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 Tablespoon seasoned salt
  • vegetable or canola oil enough to create an inch or more of oil in the pan if pan frying
  • 2 eggs eggs leave out for thinner breading

Cooking Instructions

  • Heat oil in the pan over medium heat if pan frying or heat oil to about 375° F for deep frying.
  • Combine flour and seasoned salt in a large bowl or zip-top bag.
  • For Thin Mushroom Breading: Pour mushrooms into flour/salt mixture and stir or shake to coat.
  • For Thicker Mushroom Breading: Coat mushrooms in eggs, then in seasoned flour, and fry in heated oil for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from oil and drain on a plate topped with paper towels to soak up excess oil.
  • Serve warm!

Notes

Wash your mushrooms but do not soak them! They’ll retain water and they will not cook appropriately. You can also sprinkle on additional seasonings after frying for more flavor.
