Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Baking Instructions

  • Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Beat butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together in a large bowl until smooth; beat in eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Stir flour mixture into butter mixture until just blended; mix in oats, walnuts, and chocolate chips. Drop batter by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes. Cool cookies on baking sheets for 3 to 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For chewier cookies, chill the dough before baking for 30 minutes. For crispier cookies, bake 1 to 2 minutes longer.
