Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases, aiming for a rectangle of about 12×15 inches.
  • Layer the thinly sliced ham evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Place the slices of cheese on top of the ham in a single layer.
  • If using, spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the cheese.
  • Sprinkle some freshly ground black pepper over the top to your liking.
  • Starting from one edge, carefully roll the pastry tightly into a log.
  • Once rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds. You should have about 12-15 pinwheels.
  • Lay them cut side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg.
  • Bake in your preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until puffed up and golden brown.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
