Equipment

  • large pot
  • Large Skillet
  • small bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces lo mein noodles
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 Tablespoons neutral cooking oil
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced beef
  • 1 large carrot, shredded
  • sesame seeds and/or green onions for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Fill a large pot with water and let it come to a boil. Add the lo mein noodles. Cook the noodles according to the package. Add the broccoli florets about halfway through. Once done, drain both the noodles and broccoli and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, stir together garlic, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, light brown sugar, ground ginger, ground black pepper and red pepper flakes.
  • Add the cooking oil, carrot and sliced beef to a large skillet. Cook on medium to high heat for 5-8 minutes or until the steak is cooked to your liking.
  • Add the broccoli and noodles on top of the steak and stir, then add the sauce to the pan and stir until fully coated.
  • Sprinkle with chopped scallions and/or sesame seeds on top, serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. You can drizzle a chili sauce over top for extra spice! Freeze the steak and let it thaw halfway through for easier slicing into thin strips. You can use frozen broccoli, just steam in the microwave beforehand instead of boiling it.
