For the Fish

  • 4 pieces white fish fillets (cod) Each roughly 6 ounces
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest Adds brightness to the dish
  • 1 pinch paprika For color, not spice
  • to taste salt Adjust to your liking

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley chopped, for garnish
  • 1 slice lemon Thin lemon slices for garnish

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Pat the cod fillets dry and season them with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, and a pinch of paprika.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the fish in a shallow baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake the cod in the preheated oven until the fish turns opaque and flakes easily with gentle pressure, usually under 20 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices before serving.

Notes

Leftovers keep for a day or two in the fridge. Reheat gently in a low oven to avoid drying out. Garlic breath may occur if too much garlic is used.
